Learning and Education
- The continuous improvement of the modules and teaching methods of Internal Medicine, Psychiatry, Dermatology and Radiology.
- Monitoring of the department’s educational quality through student satisfaction surveys.
Scientific Research
- Encouraging innovation and increasing key publications through partnerships with local research centers.
- Focus on research publications as the department has many published articles in peer reviewed journals.
Social responsibility
- Organizing various campaigns to promote the awareness and early diagnosis of medical conditions.
- Conducting field studies and scientific research in topics of particular benefit to the community of Rabigh. 
Academic and administrative development
- Membership in scientific and administrative committees of the Faculty of Medicine.   Partnerships in national and international cooperation
- The partnership between the department and the Faculty of Medicine in King Abdulaziz University’s main branch.
- The cooperation between the department with the departments of medicine in King Fahad General Hospital in Jeddah, and King Abdullah Medical City in Jeddah.
- Membership of the department’s faculty members in national and international scientific committees.

Infrastructure
- High quality preparation of the teaching halls and clinical skills labs used for department educational activities.
